Two Weeks ago, Sri Lanka's Defence Secretary told the BBC News "Hospitals are legitimate military targets"
US Senator Robert Casey expressed his deep concerns with this statement in a recent Foreign Relations Committee hearing on the Sri Lanka Crisis. The Sri Lankan Government has now banned all media, journalists, and aid groups from the conflict zone. They have rejected a special British envoy to the North where 250,000 minority Tamil's are trapped. The Government has killed over 2,500 in aerial bombings into populated civilian areas in the last 2 months. The civil war has killed 70,000 to date. The violence has risen in recent months as fighting has intensified between the LTTE and Government Forces. |
